No but can we talk about this? Toothless instantly ADORES Valka! I think that the dragon understands very well that she’s Hiccup’s mother. They maybe smell alike, and Toothless is very smart for a dragon. He saw them together and he probably had immediately associated the behavior of both. She is nearly a stranger, even if she is so good with dragons… But look at him! He is practically purring for her. He felt instant trust toward Valka, and I think he is SO HAPPY for Hiccup now. Look at him, especially in the first gif and in the last two: he LOVES her. He is so grateful for her presence. He let her touch him without hesitation! She litterally put her head inside his mouth, but look at Toothless, look at his eyes! He doesn’t even care! “She can do whatever she want! I’m SO HAPPY about this!” Yet, I think he knows who she is because he shows respect for her. We all know that Toothless loves to lick when he’s happy or excited, like a kiss, just like dogs… but look at the third and the fourth gif! He just show the tongue like he was asking “can I kiss you?” and when Valka touches his tongue he is SO pleased! Look at his expression at the end of the fourth gif! He has a shiver of pleasure! And then he looks at her with natural love. Hiccup is his brother, an equal, but this is a mom. His brother’s mom. Toothless found a mom!
