bucky’s left arm is the one he lost. the left side is also associated with anything sinister, bad, or unnatural. by putting one of the symbols of captain america on his left side, it shows that bucky is still good, still human, especially since captain america is practically the symbol of goodness. once he gets that taken away, however, and has it replaced by something metal, something unnatural…
